Round Two SKUSA ProMoto Tour: Sonoma, California
On
May 10-12, David Jurca traveled to Sonoma, California to participate
in Round Two of the SKUSA ProMoto Tour held at Sears Point Raceway
in Sonoma, California. Things started out quite well on Friday as
both David and his teammate Jordy Vorrath were setting the pace
in the SuperPro class.
Ekartingnews.com had this to say: "On the track, it was the
Italian Motors duo of Jordy Vorrath and David Jurca who established
themselves as the front-runners in the SuperPro class. Vorrath stopped
the unofficial clocks with a lap in the 46.9 range, while Jurca
was one of many to log a 47.0. Also on hand to boost the team's
tuning efforts was Michael Valiante, fresh off his Toyota Atlantic
win at the Long Beach Grand Prix."
"I'm very happy with our progress,' remarked Jurca. 'We're
definitely very competitive, and during the hour-long practice we
ran 30 laps and were pleased with our consistency."
Saturday was another story. During qualifying, David suffered clutch
problems and was forced to start in the 14th position. The clutch
problems came back in the prefinal and he did not finish. For the
final, Jurca made numerous passes on the outside of corners and
charged from 18th to 7th in the final. After the race David said:
"It was unfortunate what happened before our final race. We
had a great chance to finish on the podium today as I had one of
the fastest laps. Seventh is not bad considering I started last,
and I got some more valuable points. Hopefully our luck will turn
around though."
On Sunday, David qualified seventh, with third through seventh
being separated by a mere two tenths of a second. On the start of
the prefinal he dropped back a bit, as the clutch was giving him
trouble again and he ended up finishing tenth. For the final, Jurca
had a hard fought battle with several racers and finished seventh.
David would like to thank his sponsors Best Ceramic, European Tile
Inc., Italian
Motors, ITALKART,
Kuzzins Kustoms, Bell
Helmets, MyChron,
Serengeti Design, and Jim Mason.
