David Jurca Podiums in
Formula Dodge Debut
On
the weekend of February 14-16, David Jurca traveled to Sebring,
Florida to compete in a one off Formula Dodge regional race weekend.
The event was larger than usuall as it was a West meets the South
race weekend.
Jurca's focus for the weekend was to gain more experience
in the unfamiliar Formula Dodge racecars. With the only prior experience
being a handful of practice laps, Jurca was excited to be able to
compete in an actual race weekend. The race would also serve as
preparation for the first round of the Formula Dodge National Championship
held in Sebring, Florida.
For Jurca's first ever qualifying session, he was
able to qualify an impressive third place. Pole position was the
Western Championship points leader and second position was the Southern
Championship points leader.
In the first of two races, David got off to a poor
start dropping to fifth at the green flag. He eventually worked
his way up to second place by the end of the race. Quite impressive
for the young rookie. In the second race, Jurca had an uneventful
run to third place to end his weekend with two podium finishes in
his debut. After the race Jurca said, "I am beginning to feel
more and more confident in the Formula Dodge racecars. It's a bit
different than racing karts, but I am certain that with more experience,
I will be up front in no time."
Stay tuned for a report on Jurca's next race March
13-15th in Sebring, Florida in conjunction with the American LeMans
12 hours of Sebring.
